Middle Fly District is the largest among the three Districts with a landmass of 44,479 square kilometers and a population of about 20,000 people.
Access into many of the villages in this District is predominantly by dugout canoes, outboard-powered dinghies and aircraft. Most villages are vastly scattered and separated by large water bodies that feed into the Fly River.
The District has only one CMCA Trust Region which is Middle Fly; represented by the Middle Fly River Development Foundation.
The Middle Fly people speak five main languages – Zimakani, Awin, Mandobo, Boazi, and Yongom.
